The Swifty braai is a versatile braai that can be used indoors as well as outside. Because this is such an innovative concept, we felt we should patent it (2023/04444)

Its name originates from the simplicity and swiftness of adjusting the grid height.

When the meat catches fire, the Swifty method can be used to quickly adjust the height, unlike other methods.

The Swifty Braai has 3 height settings and a 4th if you would drop the grid right onto the stand level (to squeeze the last bit of heat from your coals if needed)

Built-in Fireplaces

The Swifty can be used in your built-in brick fireplace or in a built-in steel fireplace. Two sizes are available to be compatible with most sizes of fireplaces.

• 800mm x 400mm x 400mm when set up (x 40mm when folded)
• 520mm x 400mm x 400mm when set up (x 40mm when folded)

Simply remove the “Ember Maker” (firebox) and grid from your existing built-in steel braai, but don’t get rid of it. When you relocate, take your Swifty with you and replace it with the original firebox and grid.

Removing the firebox has certain advantages, for example,

• Some designs of built-in braais have smoke problems as the firebox is located off-center
• You do not need to scrape coals from the side as the fire is made in the centre of the braai
• As the fire is made in the centre of the braai, the smoke problem is automatically sorted
• You have a much larger “braai” area available

Half Drum Braai

As the Swifty fits into the drum, it is much closer to the coals. With the standard Drum Grid, a huge fire was needed to generate enough heat from the coals to cook the food that is situated high on top of the drum. The heat efficiency of the Swifty in the Drum Braai is exceptional.

Mobile Braai

The swifty can fit comfortably into any mobile braai with minimum dimensions of

1. 805mm x 405mm x any depth (Larger size)

2. 525mm x 405mm x any depth (Smaller size)

Bomas

For a Boma the swifty can be used directly on the cement or brick surface on which you make your fire.

Camping/Picnic 

The same goes for camping. The Swifty can be used wherever you make the fire, be it ground sand or rock.

A canvas bag is available for purchase for easy handling, should you want to use your Swifty to go camping or to have handy in your vehicle for any unexpected Braai opportunity.

Care suggestions

Swifty is made of 3cr12 stainless steel and when used correctly will last for years to come.

• Only place your frame over the coals when the coals are ready for braaiing instead of putting it directly into the fire.
• Preferably place a cold grid on the coals just before you start braaiing as a hot grid tends to let the meat stick to the grid.
• A grid that is cleaned with flames from the fire will have a shorter lifespan, so we suggest that the Swifty is cleaned with water and soap for the extension of the grid-life.
